Zaftig and Sub Rosa

Weekend, pronounced as wēk-end, is the shortest possible period when one can have time solely for herself, at long last, after the entire week with all the bustle at work, socialization of all sort, sleep that seems like nap, train chasing, etc, etc.

Coast to coast at East Coast Park before sunrise, 2-hour amateur cycling to Changi(!?) plus about an hour of nap during the bus ride going home and crisp danggit (dried siganid fish from Cebu, Philippines) in buttered fried rice completed the first half of my day. This is the Law of Cancellation, expend stored calories in order to give justification when you consume it back. Oh fats.

The rest of the day was spent as couch potato with the tv and lappytop. Most likely, which was actually the case, I was able to re-arrange my personal site and yes, now launching The Roseletter. Ain't as ravishing but at least it did meet my minimum for "presentable enough" standard. Temporarily, I shall let it sit as it is until I get to purchase the domain name and build my real own site.

I am quite glad that I remembered to browse thru m-w.com and get a glimpse of the Word of the Day and its 2-month-long archive. So the supposed glimpse ended up with Q time for learning new vocabulary - one of the things I missed doing. Of all the first batch of words, two of them were most appealing, zaftig which is pleasingly plump, and sub rosa meaning secretly. Any idea what caught my attention?

My interest with words and more words gave a mental spark for my ningas cogon Project 365. Yeah, why not portray the word of the day I learn everyday? That's two birds killed, with just a shot.
