Recently, a Yahoo! article spilled the good news (finally!) with regards to the monstrous economic downturn felt for the past couple of years. It said that by 2010, the recession tag is officially out in Singapore. I am one of those one and oogle of people, with one and oogle of big rants, who’s affected by the financial crisis brought about by this big R.
Without overtime pay, worse, with approximately 30% pay cut, how on earth would a young adult in-her-early-twenties-and-singlehood-stage survive Sg's high standard of living? Remittance back home went from as high as 33% down to OMG! zero of my monthly income. If an unmarried and yet-childless lass like me finds that tough, how much more for those who support their family with growing kids?
Thanks to big R, salary increment and promotions went frozen. And here my conscience whispers to me, I should be grateful I have my job. Retrenchment and freeze hiring are way much more evil.
We’re all looking forward to see the struggle ending soon. At the advent of the wheel turning back, I realize that we all have to learn this lesson the hard way. That hurts, yes. But well Big R, I’m bigger than U R .
